Isabel Vineyard is not only one of the largest family owned vineyards in Marlborough, it also has some of the oldest vines in Marlborough producing exceptional quality grapes and wines from: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Michael and Robyn Tiller and their four children all work at the vineyard that was named after Michael’s late mother, Isabel Jean Pearson who encouraged her son away from his 20-year career as a pilot and into the art of wine. The family’s passion and love for making wine is reflected in every detail throughout the wine making process. Isabel endeavours to produce "inspired wines that are a strong expression of the individual style and character as determined by the vineyard soil and site". Isabel’s modern winery is situated in the middle of the vineyard. It combines the very best of high technology and low technology equipment to maximise vineyard flavours. Yields for the Isabel wines are restricted by pruning to low bud numbers and, where necessary, shoot and bunch thinning ensures that fruit quality is fully optimised. Come and meet the family and enjoy Isabel Vineyard’s current and back vintage wines in a beautiful setting in the Wairau Valley. Visitors to the cellar door are very welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn.
