Camping on the track
Your luggage can be delivered by boat each day, so you can pack a few glamping extras, and the view from your front door is bound to be stunning.
There are six Department of Conservation (DOC) managed campsites on the track, each with toilets and water supply. There are also private campgrounds along the track at Mistletoe Bay Eco Village and at Resolution Bay. Reservations are recommended.

DOC campsites need to be pre-booked and paid for. To purchase your campsite, head online or you can do this in person at the Blenheim, Picton or Havelock isites. These campsite fees go toward the maintenance of the camp facilities.
- Water is generally available at all campsites and it should be treated, boiled or filtered, and used sparingly.
- In dry weather water may run out so please come prepared with extra water in the summer and pack purification tablets.
- Toilets provided at all campsites. These will be long-drop/basic facilities, please bring your own toilet paper.
- No cooking facilities at the campsites so you will need to carry your own cooker.
- Avoid disposing of food scraps around the campsites as this causes visible pollution and attracts vermin.
- Remember there are no rubbish facilities: please take your rubbish back out with you.
- No fires at all times anywhere along the track.
